PreparING for Your Notary Appointment

PreparING for YOUR LOAN SIGNING

Understand Your Documents

Make sure you know what you’re signing. Seek professional advice if needed beforehand, as the notary can’t provide legal guidance.

Bring Proper ID

Each signer needs an active government-issued ID (e.g., passport, driver’s license, state ID). Bring two IDs if possible.

Name Matching

Your ID must match the name on the document. It’s okay if the ID provides more name than the document.

Language Requirement

Signers must communicate effectively with the notary. Specify if you need a bilingual notary.

Complete Docs, No Blank

Fill out all documents completely before the appointment. The notary can’t help with drafting.

Review and Comfort

Review all documents beforehand and feel comfortable with them. You must agree to all terms voluntarily.

Sound Mind

Signers must be mentally competent and able to understand the documents they are signing.
